General Information (Passport)
  1.  Please book your online appointment before visiting the Consulate General.
  2.  For passport processing of each family member a separate appointment is required.
  3.  Fee is required to be paid through EftPOS machine only. All Credit / Debit Cards are accepted except American Express.
  4. If you desire to receive the passport via post you are required to indicate your choice clearly at the time of processing and provide a Separate Pre-paid self-addressed Registered / Express post envelope
  5. Passport delivery time is tentative and is subject to delay in printing and dispatch from Pakistan.
  6. No form, photograph or application is required for processing of MRP Passport except in the case of lost passport, protection cases or dual nationals.
  7. No attestation is required except that of the Consent Letter for a minor,
  8. It is not possible for us to record your biometrics in case your thumbs and index fingers are injured or covered with Henna.
  1. Personal presence is mandatory for all applicants desirous of seeking passport through the Consulate General.
  2. Original Valid NICOP / CNIC along with a photocopy. Expired CNIC / NICOP will not be accepted.
  3. Children below 18years who are in possession of a valid NICOP must renew their NICOP on reaching the age of 18 years.
  4. Last Pakistani passport in original along with a photocopy of first 4 pages.
  5. Photocopy of Visa Grant Notice / Visa Sticker and Fresh VEVO entitlement letter.
  6. No Objection Certificate (for applicants in service of the Government of Pakistan).
  7. Separate pre-paid self-addressed Registered / Express envelope for each applicant opting for postal delivery.
  8. Additional documents are required in case of Dual National / Asylum seeker and additional processing time is applicable.
  9. Holder of Protection visa in possession of travel document may send the email and seek prior instruction before visiting Pakistan High Commission or Consulate General of Pakistan Sydney.
  10. Parents' IDs (CNIC and Passport) may also be required for verification in certain cases.
  1. MRP Passport with Five (05) years validity shall be issued to children of age up-to 15 years.
  2. Applicant must be accompanied by both parents or should possess written consent (duly signed by the J.P) in absence of any one of them.
  3. Valid NICOP is mandatory for processing of MRP Passport for all applicants in Australia or any other country outside Pakistan.
  4. Valid NICOP or CNIC or NADRA Form B with its photocopy is accepted for applicant born in Pakistan only.

Surname / Family Name

If the applicant does not have a Surname or family name (e.g. Given Name: Shaheer Mohammad) and intends to or add or modify Surname (like Mohammad), he/she will be required to get the CNIC / NICOP modified (e.g. Surname: Mohammad, Given Names: Shaheer) so as to get the modified name printed in the passport.

Change of NAME Sequence

In case applicant's name is Muhammad Omer Kiyani in CNIC / NICOP / Form B, his name shall by default be split by the system as Given Names: Muhammad Omer, Surname: Kiyani. In case, applicant likes to change sequence / order,  he must inform the passport officer.

Change of Place of birth

The applicant is required to get the place / date of birth modified in NADRA database (CNIC / NICOP) before applying for MRP.

Child Endorsement on MRP

Each child is required to get a separate MRP Passport.

Dual Nationals

Following documents are required in addition:

  • Australian passport along with its photocopy.
  • Please fill in and sign the "Dual National Proforma" including address in Pakistan.
  • Photocopies of Pakistani as well as Foreign Passports .

Lost Passport Cases:

  •  Police Event Number
  • Duly signed "Lost Passport Report".
  • Lost passport fee applicable as per number of times lost.
  • In case of lost Manual (hand written) Passport, verification will be sought from the issuing office which may increase processing time.

Frequently Asked Questions (Passport)

Yes. The applicants are required to bring original CNIC / NICOP card which should have their husband’s name. If the husband’s name does not appear in the card, the applicant is required to approach the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) for modification in accordance with her marital status before applying for MRP. In case of divorces, same procedure of modification in CNIC / NICOP is required for substituting father's name for husband name.

No. Applicant applying in new category (first time MRP after manual passport) OR modifying name spelling etc, must carefully read DATA FORM especially name spellings. After signing declaration in data form, the applicant shall be responsible for any mistake. If any applicant desires to make changes after submission of data, he / she will be required to repeat the complete process and pay fee afresh.

Yes. If the applicant does not have a Surname or Family Name (e.g Shaheer), to modify or add his / her Surname / Family Name (like Mohammad), he / she will be required to approach NADRA for modification of his / her CNIC / NICOP first, like (Shaheer Mohammad), so as to get the modified name printed in the passport.

In case if the applicant name is Muhammad Omer Kiyani in CNIC / NICOP / Form B, his / her name shall be automatically split by NADRA / MRP system as First Name: Muhammad Omer, Last name / Surname: Kiyani. In case, applicant likes to change sequence / order of his / her name, the person is required to inform the passport officer for relevant changes, at time of passport application processing. Otherwise, applicant shall be held responsible for that and his name order only shall be changed after repeating the complete process on payment of fee as a fresh case.

No. For the applicant wishing to change his / her place of birth he / she is required to approach NADRA for necessary change before getting the MRP processed from the Mission.

No. Machine Readable Passport (MRP) is issued in conformity with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards. According to the ICAO standards child endorsement is not allowed on parent's passport. MRP is required to be processed and issued separately for each child.

Applicants living in Fiji or PNG can get their MRP Passports issued from the High Commission in Canberra or Consulate General in Sydney. Those desiring to get their passports delivered through mail are required to provide Australian post international registered post envelope for delivery of passport at their address. Their existing Passport shall be void after applicant's entry back to Fiji OR PNG. 

Personal presence is mandatory for all applicants desirous of seeking passport through the Consulate General.

The fee for issuance of Machine Readable Passport generally depends upon the size (in terms of number of pages), validity (5 or 10 years) and status of loss of passports. You may like to choose the appropriate size and validity to determine the fees from the schedule available on the website.

Yes. In some cases verification of parents' IDs is also required. Alternatively, you can bring the Family Registration Certificate (FRC) for the purpose.

Yes. Department of Immigration and Passports (IMPASS) has rolled out a new software for online passport renewal. This system provides for renewal cases where no change is required to be made in the particulars of the applicant. In case, if you need to record any changes in the particulars, you will not be able to get the passport renewed through this system.

No. No adjustment of the charges paid online, is allowed by the Mission for processing of the Machine Readable Passport. Please be informed that no adjustment or refund of fees is allowed.

No. It is not possible to get the NICOP and MRP processed at the same time. These are processed by two different software systems. MRP System is dependent upon the NICOP Data. As such the case cannot be processed for issuance of MRP in the event of non-existence of NICOP data. This data becomes available to the MRP System only after issuance of NICOP by NADRA.

EMERGENCY TRAVEL DOCUMENT

We are not issuing emergency manual passports. However, in case of extreme emergency, issuance of  One Sheet Emergency Travel Document (ETD) is being considered by the Mission.

Following documents are required for issuance of ETD:

  1. Duly filled Application Form provided by the Consulate
  2. Two Passport size photographs of the applicant
  3. Passport copy
  4. Your Itinerary
  5. An additional application addressed to the Consulate General for issuance of ETD stating the reasons for applying and providing an affidavit attested by JP that you are not involved in any criminal activity in the country of residence (Australia).
  6. A self addressed return envelope
  7. In case of a minor, a Consent letter from both parents (a statement on plain paper to be signed by both parents stating that they have no objection if visa / emergency travel document is granted to their child) is also required along with their Pakistani IDs.
