Mr. Qamar Zaman

Consul General & Minister (Trade & Investment)

Mr. Qamar Zaman, the Consul General of Pakistan for Australia, New Zealand, and Fiji, is a career Commerce and Trade Group officer having more than 20 years’ experience in various public sector departments.

Before joining this office, he was posted as Director General in Ministry of Commerce (2022-24) looking after international trade and supply issues of agriculture, livestock and fisheries. Prior to that, he was posted as Joint Secretary (IRC) in Prime Minister’s Office (2019-22), where he was looking after reforms process of government including re-organization of the federal government, austerity, restructuring of departments, civil service reforms, E-Office, and a range of other interventions aimed at improving the performance and efficiency of the federal government. He has also served in Trade Development Authority of Pakistan, where he was Director General of Sialkot office, which can be termed as industrial hub of Pakistan as the office takes care of Gujranwala and Gujrat as well. Before that he worked in Ministry of Climate Change, Establishment Division and Ministry of Textile Industry. He has also served as Commercial Secretary in High Commission of Pakistan, South Africa during 2013-16.

Mr. Qamar Zaman holds M.Phil. degree in Government and Public Policy and has attended dozens of international conferences, trainings and seminars inside and outside Pakistan. He is an avid reader of international trade, investment, businesses, and international development. He also takes keen interest in sports.

He is married to Muniba and is blessed with Rushna, Fatima, and Ramsha.
